The Secretary for Ecological Transition, Jordi Sargatal, visits Marimurtra to learn about the research and environmental outreach projects

Sargatal congratulated the Carl Faust Foundation for the work it carries out for biodiversity and the dissemination of environmental conservation

The Secretary for Ecological Transition of the Government of Catalonia, Jordi Sargatal, visited the Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes today with the aim of learning first-hand about the scientific research and biodiversity outreach projects promoted by the Carl Faust Foundation.

During the visit, Sargatal – an ornithologist by training, environmental activist and renowned author of works on biodiversity and ornithology – congratulated the Foundation for the work it carries out in favour of environmental conservation: “In addition to taking care of the garden, you are doing many things for biodiversity such as installing nest boxes, insect hotels, and reservoirs in water ponds to maintain fish populations with interesting genetics,” he remarked.

The Secretary for Ecological Transition, who leads environmental and renewable energy policies, viewed very positively the practices being carried out at Marimurtra in this regard and praised the work being done in “environmental outreach and seduction so that visitors leave the Garden with more knowledge about environmental conservation and biodiversity.”

After a short speech to all the staff in which he congratulated them for their work, Jordi Sargatal met with the president of the Carl Faust Foundation’s board of trustees, Cristòfol Jordà, with whom he shared impressions about current and future projects. Afterwards, he visited the Garden and signed the Foundation’s guest book.
