Next Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes will become the epicenter of family tourism with a new edition of Marimurtríssim. This well-established event invites both children and adults to enjoy a privileged botanical environment through a proposal that combines play, learning, and respect for biodiversity.
New workshops and scientific dissemination This year’s edition arrives with a renewed program of activities, featuring brand-new workshops such as chocolate with plants and flowers and plant-based cheeses. These experiences, guided by experts, allow for a sensory and creative approach to the plant world, following the legacy of research and knowledge started by Carl Faust more than a century ago. In the Biodiversity Corner, families can participate in building nesting boxes, insect hotels, and bird feeders, which this year incorporate new designs and improved models. These pieces have been designed with a practical and educational perspective, making it easier for each family to become an active conservation agent at home. This evolution of content is closely linked to the founding values of the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, which has scientific dissemination and environmental conservation as its backbone. Through these family activities, the goal is for participants to understand the importance of local fauna and how small gestures, such as placing an appropriate shelter, can favor the balance of the ecosystem. It is not just about doing a craft, but about understanding the role of each species.
Botanical workshops: gastronomy and creativity Within the program of new workshops, there are proposals that link botany with our senses, especially taste and touch. Chocolate with plants and flowers workshop: An activity where families will learn techniques for working with chocolate and how to flavor it with natural ingredients from our surroundings. Plant-based cheese workshop: An innovative proposal to discover how to make fermented products based on almonds, ideal for curious people or those with intolerances. Botanical crafts: A space to get your hands dirty creating seed bombs or botanical dreamcatchers with organic materials. These experiences, guided by experts, allow for a scientific and creative approach to plants, following the legacy of research and knowledge started by Carl Faust more than a century ago.
An experience for all ages Marimurtríssim is designed as a full-day experience. The festival ticket includes access to the Garden, participation in a morning activity (workshop), a family guided tour to discover the biodiversity of Marimurtra, and an autonomous scavenger hunt. The latter is one of the most beloved activities, as it allows visitors to explore the garden at their own pace while solving botanical challenges that lead to a final raffle of a family pack at 2:30 PM. The festival will feature a gastronomic space with local products and a plant and nursery market, reinforcing the idea of a day to be inspired and connect with nature. In short, Marimurtríssim 2026 is the essential appointment for families looking for quality activities with children, where scientific rigor and fun go hand in hand in one of the most spectacular botanical gardens in Europe.
