The Marimurtra Botanical Garden presents at the 1st Congress of Young Researchers in Local Studies the summary of the studied herbaria preserved in secondary education centers in Catalonia, by the curator of the herbarium, Carles Burguera.
One of the research lines of the Marimurtra Botanic Garden herbarium is the restoration, study and enhancement of ancient botanical collections. With this aim, the herbarium has received six collections that it has been able to carefully study and from which the results and interesting findings are periodically published in specialized scientific journals.
In the communication to Congress, four of the studied herbaria are detailed, adding up to a total of 5,000 specimens collected between 1900-1960 throughout the state. However, the study and conservation of these scientific collections, the most relevant herbarium sheets in the taxonomic field and the relevance of their collectors, are re-evaluated.
The Congress is organized by the Rovira i Virgili University, the Coordinator of the Center for Catalan Language Studies and the Ramon Muntaner Institute Organize and has twelve thematic areas and sixty communications.
