The new edition brings together 22 scientific contributions and 10 outreach contents related to Marimurtra during 2025
Fundació Carl Faust has published the fourth volume of Jardí d’Epicur, the journal of academic and outreach articles produced by Marimurtra Botanical Garden. Published by Edicions de Marimurtra, the publication brings together a selection of scientific and outreach content related to the Garden throughout 2025, with the aim of preserving it, providing context and making it easier to consult.
The new issue has 228 pages and is structured into two main sections. The scientific section includes 22 contributions, comprising academic articles, abstracts, posters and presentations. The outreach section features 10 pieces of content, mainly audiovisual, bringing some of the projects, technical sessions and initiatives developed at Marimurtra to a wider audience.
The scientific content covers a wide range of areas, including ethnobotany, plant biodiversity conservation, genomics, the history of natural sciences, living collection management and plant awareness. The volume includes papers published in specialist journals as well as contributions presented at conferences and technical meetings, reflecting the diversity of research areas and collaborations associated with the Garden.
Among the contributions directly related to Marimurtra, the journal includes the Living Plant Collection Plan and several presentations on conservation, outreach and scientific communication. It also features work on the role of botanical gardens in promoting plant awareness, an ethnobotanical perspective on the Garden and the use of drawing to highlight and raise recognition of the plant world.
The outreach section documents activities such as the Marimurtra Technical Sessions, bird monitoring during the breeding season, the presentation of the new Scientific Director and the Living Plant Collection Plan, events held as part of Science Week and the special feature dedicated to aquatic environments.
This fourth volume continues an editorial project that brings together the different facets of Marimurtra: the Garden as a space for the scientific study of plants, as a place for outreach and learning, and as a meeting point between science, landscape and society. The journal therefore helps to showcase the knowledge generated and shared by Fundació Carl Faust and its network of collaborators.
