Marimurtra charts the roadmap towards a more accessible Garden
Making sure that everyone can discover and enjoy the natural, scenic and scientific heritage of Marimurtra is a commitment that requires a long-term perspective. With this in mind, the Carl Faust Foundation presents the Accessibility Plan 2027–2030 , the roadmap that will guide the improvements that will be carried out at the Marimurtra Botanical Garden over the coming years.
The document addresses accessibility in a global way and incorporates it as a transversal element in the management of the Garden. The actions will be implemented progressively, taking into account the characteristics of a historical and unique space and preserving the natural, landscape and heritage values that define Marimurtra.
A plan based on the needs of the Garden and its visitors
The Plan is based on a diagnosis of the current state of Marimurtra that has allowed the main needs to be detected and action priorities to be established for the period 2027–2030.
Among the planned lines of work are the improvement of accessible itineraries, the adaptation of signage, the incorporation of new rest areas and the expansion of information resources adapted to different groups. This set of measures will facilitate orientation, mobility and access to content along the route, as well as favor a more autonomous visit.
A participatory process to incorporate different perspectives
The document has been prepared with the assistance of accessibility expert Andrea Granell and is the result of a participatory process in which entities, professionals specialized in universal accessibility and representatives of different groups have participated.
The Ventijol CEE, the Benet Ribas Senior Citizens’ Home, the ADECCO Foundation, the ASPRONIS Foundation, the Casa del Mar Retirement Home, the MIFAS Group and several professionals from the Marimurtra Botanical Garden have participated.
Their contributions have allowed us to learn first-hand about the difficulties that may arise during the visit, identify specific needs and define actions that are more tailored to the diversity of the people who visit the Garden.
A commitment to the present and the future
Accessibility is not a one-time action, but a process that requires constant review, learning and improvement. With the Accessibility Plan 2027–2030, the Carl Faust Foundation takes a new step to integrate this principle into all areas of Marimurtra management and continue working so that the Garden can be known, visited and enjoyed by everyone.
