It is a tree that belongs to the conifers (pines, firs, cypresses…). It can reach up to 25 metres in height. Its most characteristic feature are its hanging branches and leaves.
The leaves are small and scaly, of a light greyish-green colour. The flowers grow in clusters (inflorescence) and are sphere-shaped. The male flowers are yellowish and the female flowers are green.
The fruits are globe-shaped cones. In the second year after emergence, they ripen and turn brown in colour.
In the garden there is a beautiful specimen, where you can see the characteristic hanging branches. It is not known when it was planted, but it already appears in records from 1965.
