It is a type of palm tree with many trunks, which can reach up to 4.5 metres in height. The trunks are covered with the fibres that the dry leaves leave behind when they fall off.
The leaves are long, up to 3 metres. The flowers are tiny and are borne in clusters (inflorescence): There are male and female ones.
The fruit is globe-shaped, orange or red in colour and is toxic.
There are two specimens, behind the bamboo. They are quite large, up to 6 metres high with several branches.
We do not know when they were planted, but because of their characteristics we think it was at the beginnings of the garden.
When the Formosa Palm reaches a certain height, it starts to flower. The first group of flowers (inflorescence) is borne at the end of the trunk, and each time it blooms again, it will bloom further down the trunk.
The last flowers are borne at ground level, and then the plant will die.
