Description

It is a tall and slender palm, up to 25 meters high, with a thin trunk.

The leaves are evergreen and fan-shaped. They can reach 1.5 meters. They are bright green with spikes.

The flowers are born in groups (inflorescence). The inflorescences are very large, more than 3 meters, and hanging. They are full of small flowers, which are creamy white and very fragrant.

The fruit is very small, bluish-black in color and not very fleshy.

Marimurtra’s specimens

You will find this plant in different parts of the garden. The tallest one is located in the second garden and has a height of almost 20 meters. It is not known when it was planted, but it already appears in the first inventory of the garden in 1954.

Did you know that…?

When the leaves are dry, they fall. That is why we can find them high in the tops of other large trees.
