Description

The Eleagnus pungens is a generally leafy shrub that can reach up to 7 meters in height and up to 4 meters in width. Its branches have strong thorns, with evergreen leaves (they do not fall in autumn). These are green on the outside and silver on the inside. The flowers are born in groups of 3. They are tubular, pale yellow in color and have a strong scent. From the flowers comes the fruit, which is red with silvery scales. It is meaty and boney.

Marimurtra’s specimens

Marimurtra’s specimen is found at the main entrance to the garden, in the courtyard of Faust’s house. It grows at the foot of the wall, it is slender (thin and long) and leafy.

Did you know that…?

It is often used in gardening to create spaces, as if it were a fence, because it is leafy and its leaves are evergreen.
