Long\u00ed Nav\u00e0s SJ (Cabassers, El Priorat 1858 \u2013 Girona, 1938).<\/p>\n<p>This herbarium has been preserved in the Sant Ignasi-Jesu\u00eftes College of Sarri\u00e0, in Barcelona, \u200b\u200band provides 335 new data on specimens collected between 1936 and 1938, of which 13 first mentions of non-native species cultivated in Spain stand out.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13604\" src=\"https:\/\/marimurtra.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Herbario.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Long\u00ed Nav\u00e0s was one of the great European naturalists of the first half of the 20th century, standing out above all in the study of insects. At the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, Nav\u00e0s found refuge in Cass\u00e0 de la Selva together with two other monks, where he prepared these herbaria. His authorship was confirmed thanks to a visit made by Nav\u00e0s&#8217; niece, Rosa Maria Massip, to the Marimurtra Botanical Garden during which she shared a handwritten letter from Long\u00ed that has been key to attributing authorship to him.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13603 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/marimurtra.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Caligrafia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"331\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The talk by Carles Burguera, which will take place on <strong>Saturday, September 21 at 11:30 a.m.<\/strong> at Can Trinxeria in Cass\u00e0 de la Selva, is included in the 5th cycle of conferences organized by the Cass\u00e0 de la Selva Municipal Archive.<\/p>\n<p>The activity will be complemented by a botanical excursion around Cass\u00e0 and a workshop to learn the methodologies of collecting plants and making a herbarium.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13605\" src=\"https:\/\/marimurtra.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/reverso.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1960\" height=\"1404\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The biologist and curator of the herbarium of the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, Carles Burguera, will offer a conference on September 21st on the study of the herbarium carried out in Cass\u00e0 de la Selva by the Jesuit P.
