Scientific Outreach Activities 2025 at the Marimurtra Botanical Garden

The Carl Faust Foundation, responsible and owner of the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, presents an annual program of scientific dissemination activities. A program that has been created by the Marimurtra technical teams with a double criterion: on the one hand, to make an attractive and interesting proposal to audiences of different technical levels and botanical knowledge, and on the other, to provide coverage to different topics of interest related to the founding aims of the Carl Faust Foundation, which are essentially concern for the environment, science, botany and gardening.
SEASONAL TASTING GUIDED TOUR
The Marimurtra Seasonal Tasting is a guided tour to discover how the Garden transforms in each season of the year: the most outstanding species of each season, the different floral colors that change in the Garden and the fruits that can be observed depending on the month.
The most emblematic points of the Garden, the history of its creation and the most outstanding corners for their landscape and architectural beauty are also explained.

MARIMURTRA TECHNICAL CONFERENCES
The Marimurtra Technical Training is a set of training sessions that are conceptually linked and aimed at the specialized sector of gardening, botany and the world of plants. The 20 teaching hours that make up the itinerary offer a thematic overview that goes from the most conceptual levels of a garden to the most technical. The teachers of these training courses are recognized professionals in the sector who are experts in the subject they teach.

YOGA IN MARIMURTRA
The Marimurtra Botanical Garden hosts yoga sessions with yogi Cristina Ishwari Yoga in this unique natural environment. Yoga is an ancient practice that allows us to achieve a state of inner peace and become aware of our body and mind. The benefits of this ancient practice are well known for relieving both muscular and emotional tension. Doing a yoga session is opening a parenthesis within the busy daily life to give permission for rest and relaxation. In addition, doing it in the Marimurtra Botanical Garden makes it an even more fulfilling and enriching experience. The space transmits peace and tranquility while enjoying the harmonious sounds of the sea and nature.
Observations::
- Price: €12 / person (includes the class and free visit to the Marimurtra Botanical Garden).
- Space: the area within the Garden where the activity will take place may vary depending on the weather conditions and the number of attendees in the group.
- Duration of the activity: 1 hour.
- Access: through the event door (Carrer Ermita s/n – Blanes) 10 minutes before the activity. The doors will close at 10:00.
- Exit through the main door of the Botanical Garden. The entrance fee to the activity includes entry to the Garden and the possibility of staying there afterwards.
- Activity designed for adults
- Material: You must bring a mat and comfortable clothes.

MARIMURTRÍSSIM: BOTANICAL FAMILY FESTIVAL
The Marimurtríssim Botanical Family Festival is a celebration dedicated to the love of nature and biodiversity. On May 5, come and experience a day full of emotions and sensations in the Garden, where young and old will connect with the beauty of botany in a unique and fun way.
Throughout the day, the festival invites you to explore a green world full of surprises and activities for the whole family. From manipulative workshops or botanical activities, to exciting autonomous gymkhanas or guided tours.

HORABAIXA
The Horabaixa in Marimurtra is an exclusive guided tour that will allow visitors to discover Marimurtra from a unique perspective and get to know an area that is not usually visitable accompanied by a guide from the Garden. During the months of July and August you will have the opportunity to enjoy this unique visit with a small group of 20 people; outside the opening hours of the garden: starting at 7 pm.
The Costa Brava Botanical Garden is a privileged place to enjoy the richness of its botanical, architectural, landscape and human heritage.
It is recommended to bring mosquito repellent.
IMPORTANT: The visit will be in Catalan and/or Spanish depending on the members of the group.
MARIMURTRA MONOGRAPH
The Marimurtra Monograph is a conference that deals in detail with a specific botanical topic.
In 2024 it dealt with palm trees.

SCIENCE WEEK
The Marimurtra Botanical Garden celebrates science week with different activities aimed at all audiences.
The main objective is to bring science closer to citizens, as well as to promote scientific vocations among the youngest.

CHRISTMAS IN MARIMURTRA
During Christmas, the Marimurtra Botanical Garden offers a series of activities around nature and traditions:
- Hunt for the Tió de Marimurtra: The Garden’s tión shepherd will accompany you during the tour to help you interpret the clues (in the format of QR codes and signs) and explain the secrets of the Marimurtra Botanical Garden! With this activity you will take home a Tió de Marimurtra per family while you enjoy the botanical of the Costa Brava. Once the activity is over you can stay and walk around the Garden. The Tions de Marimurtra are unique and original, created from the trunks of the trees in the Botanical Garden.
- Christmas Crafts in Marimurtra: Come and decorate your home with Marimurtra’s Christmas crafts! You will have the opportunity to personalize your Christmas Tió, created from the trunks of the trees in the Botanical Garden. In addition, you can decorate wooden balls, paint pine cones that will surely look very Christmassy on your tree and decorate pencil holders made with bamboo canes from the botanist. With the entrance to the Marimurtra Botanical Garden for the whole family (1 or 2 adults + a maximum of 3 children) you will have a Christmas set with a Tió for the whole family, Christmas balls, pine cones and bamboo pencil holders.
- Children’s Christmas at the Marimurtra Botanical Garden: During all Christmas holidays, children up to 11 years old will have free entry to the Costa Brava botanical garden.
